I, uh...I may have had insomnia really bad last night and ended up making a Canva design thing for “Praetor’s Pride” since I was still awake...
@toebeans-mcgee I thank/blame you for getting me addicted to this!! I have designs for fics that are still in the planning stages - ones that idk if I’ll even get around to writing - because it’s fun making them!
#help I can't stop#it's addicting to make these silly little things#also this fic has started pulling me in a direction I didn't initially plan on going#but idk if I want to go that way#because it kinda changes part of the dynamic#I blame Letant for that part#I'm gonna stick with the original idea I had#but I might write the alternate version at some point in the future because#it won't leave me alone#it's scratching at my brain

I've seen a lot of people writing Danny as a space ancient and Dan and Dani as ghosts with moon and sun cores, being sort of parts, versions of Danny and therefore weaker. Now, consider: Dan and Dani are both powerful ghosts with really cool cores and stuff but Danny is just some guy™
Dan, who came from an alternate timeline and is kind of from the future but also not, is Clockwork's apprentice and will eventually become an ancient of time. He probably only agreed to have some lessons with Clockwork to understand better what happened to him, but he enjoys his apprenticeship now.
Dani, with her love of travelling, loves seeing all the different places the world offers to her, and that includes space and different planets and maybe even parallel universes, and she accidentally ends up being an apprentice of the space ancient. For now she's probably a baby ancient of freedom or something like that, but she might become an ancient of space in the future.
We can also have something like Dan having a core of destruction or Dani being the Speed Force if you want it to be dcxdp, or any headcanon of yours about their cool powers.
And then there's Danny. And yeah, everyone knows that he's super powerful, but also he's just some guy.
It can go different routes. Does everyone know that Danny is just Danny? Or do they think that with siblings (well, technically a clone and an alternate version, but whatever) so powerful, he must be even stronger? Is Danny actually something terrifyingly eldritch and ancient and strong, almost a god, but he just doesn't know himself? Or is he just really some guy?
Now, because it's obvious that I have a dcxdp brainrot, have a regular "JL summons/meets a powerful ghost" but its Dan and Dani, and they keep mentioning their original/brother who won a fight against them at some point. The JL is very concerned about Dan and Dani's godlike powers, and they can't imagine what Danny is like. And then they meet him (in his human form), and it's just a young adult in casual clothes, very friendly and helpful, with no evident powers. Imagine the confusion. Imagine Dan and Dani, radiating power, in their eldritch ghost forms, admitting that fighting Danny for real is the dumbest thing to do and not even they would succeed... And then there's Danny is jeans and silly t-shirt, waving shyly.
#DO YOU SEE MY VISION#please#I'm not getting enough sleep#my brain is obsessed with weird stuff#I want Sam who barely looks human because she's one with nature#I want Tucker who looks regal and dangerous in his pharaoh clothes#I want Dan look like he can destruct the Earth with a wave of his hand#I want Dani who is everything there is in the world and you feel it in your bones#I want Jazz who sees your soul and your mind and you know it and there's nowhere to run#I want JL to meet all of them before meeting Danny#I want all of them to admit in their different ways that Danny is the greatest of them#I want JL to be VERY worried about meeting Danny#and then I want Danny to be as normal and friendly as possible#and I want him to treat all those eldritch creatures (his family and friends) as they're regular humans and nothing is weird about them#just hugs and love and praises#because it would cause so much confusion#this is NOT ghost king Danny#unless it is but he doesn't know (and either no one knows or no one told him because it's funnier this way and he's super oblivious)#dpxdc#dcxdp#dp x dc#dc x dp#DPxDC#DCxDP#danny phantom#isn't a crossover if you don't want it to be#could be any crossover if you do want it to be

Is there ANYWAY this show can get picked up by another network? Like not Netflix?
One can hope.
The problem with Dead Boy Detectives' future is that Netflix commissioned the writers to write season 2 before the release of season 1. They told Steve et al that they believed in the show and wanted to purchase the rights to the season 2 script. So they drafted both seasons 1 and 2 and sold both to Netflix.
As it turns out, Netflix has done this before. They commission the second season of shows so that the writers cannot sell that script to competing networks post-cancelation. It's a capitalistic ploy to ensure that their competitors can't acquire the shows that the cancel because Netflix owns all of the rights to what the other network would be producing.
To get Dead Boy Detectives back, Netflix would need to either sell the rights to that network or negotiate with Warner Brothers. This is unlikely as Netflix does not care about anything but profit, and removing the show from their platform would likely be a stipulation of any service that requires it. So, basically, the version of season 2 that is already written is Netflix's hostage, and they will probably never do the right thing.
The main hope is that another network - probably HBO or Prime - might commission a new script from Steve and the other writers. They would not be able to use the script that Netflix owns, so they would need to create all-new plot points. Which sucks! Season 2 wouldn't be what they originally wanted it to be! But an alternative script that serves as canon would, I am sure, also be excellent.
There have been some revealed spoilers from the existing version of season 2. It's likely that all of those things - Niko being the Principal, Edwin losing his virginity to The Cat King, the musical where a drag queen sang to animated sewer-corpses - would not make it into the new s2 for legal reasons. However, the one good thing is that they have given no Payneland spoilers whatsoever. I would of course like to hear about Payneland, but their caginess surrounding this one thing - and the fact that this is almost certainly the endgame ship - gives me hope that their romantic storyline might remain as intended.
And, hey! Netflix only owns season 2. So if they write a new season 2 and release it, and if they bring the ending back to where they had planned to start season 3, they wouldn't need to change the plans for 3/4/5/6 (if they got them.)

Would love to hear some of your headcons on Gambit :)
Yo! 😄👋🏾
Ahh man Gambit is definitely one of my all-time favorite characters in Marvel for sure. I don't even know where to begin! These are just some of my personal headcanons I have with him that I want to explore more in writing for sure! So, let's see...
-Gambit is an estranged son of the Summers family. LOVE this fan theory!
-Gambit is an Omega level mutant. There's a character named Newsun in the comics thats actually an alternate version of Gambit. Basically, Newsun grew so strong in HIS world that he destroyed it because his power became too overwhelming. It's been a while since I read up on that plotline, but from what I can remember Gambit enlists the help of Mister Sinister to remove a piece of brain matter/tissue so his powers can become more controlled and gives himself a handicap so he never has to become as destructive as Newsun. (I believe Gambit and Newsun battle and Gambit loses more of his powers from that climatic scene)
^^ this plot dynamic always stuck out to me as a reader because there has been many times in the comics where Gambits power have been very versatile and have explosive strength, even how he can manipulate energy--- it can go in SO many directions depending on the writer and editorial team. But I always had a lingering feeling that Gambit could be PUSHED and was like holding back on his powers. And after I read up on Newsun and Mister Sinister's involvement with Gambit, it started to make sense why he's "handicapped" on the power scale and can't achieve his full potential.
-I feel that w/o mister Sinister's involvement with his mutant powers, Gambit WOULD be an Omega level mutant. And also grow to the point where he can BIOLOGICALLY effect organisms. I forget which comic, but basically in canon, Daken (Wolverine's son) comes across Gambit and they get into an altercation and Gambit EXPLODES Dakens arm just by touching it. But at this point it's kind of not-canonly possible because Gambits powers aren't known to effect living organisms like that. But I remember reading it and finding it pretty interesting he would be capable of something like that, even WITH a handicap.
-Gambit is bisexual. I think this is canon now, but it's not like wildly popular with the classic fan base. I remember reading somewhere that one of Gambits writers had plans on developing Gambit as a bisexual character (might have been Claremont) but that idea was originally axed. And in Gambit (2011) the writer was asked if they would ever explore Gambits bisexual nature, and they declined saying that a better story possibly sometime in the future could write that better than they could at the time. (I believe the Editors at the time of this issue series declined to write Gambit officially bisexual in modern-canon because it wouldn't align with his current character developments with Rogue and plans for that couple) But I always told myself with writing Gambit I'd express that side of him because it's so authentic to his character and just... Makes sense? Lol
-I base Gambits physical face/model off of a young male model named Corrado Martini. I try to capture that "look" when I'm drawing him. He has that youthful charm and handsome nature I feel that Gambit would have being young and in his twenties (at least when I write with him hahaha!)
I think that's all the head canons I can think for him this moment that I have lol! He's such a dope character and doesn't get as much credit as he deserves. Let me know if there's anything else youd like to chat about! 😄👋🏾
Take care!

Hi! That talk ab what does and doesn't fit in ur personal canon (idk if that's the right word for it?) made me realize that I don't think I've ever seen you talk about Sandy on here! I lowkey forgot she was a character lmao. Where does she fit for you? (Does she fit? And if she does, could u give us some hcs on what you think her relationship with Soda was like?)
HI! Omg ok, this might be kind of long because I have LOTS of thoughts!
So in my head I have two sort of versions of my personal canon, and one is what I think actually would align with canon, and one is what I wish/gaslight myself into believing would work in canon.
I will say that I don't like Sandy as a character- but then again, as readers we're not supposed to. That said, I think she's an important character, and the fandom trashes and discredits her without really thinking about a) what she adds to the story, b) how realistic and common her plight of an unplanned teenage pregnancy that occured out of wedlock in the 60s was and what the consequences for her would be, c) keeping the last point in mind, how decent of her it was to not lie to Soda about the kid being his and to not accept his proposal when he insisted he didn't care (keep in mind that canonically Soda was so in love he was willing to marry her anyway). In a sense it can be argued that Sandy saved Soda in a way, or at least saved his future. I'm not saying she's a great person, of course she isn't but she cared enough about Soda to tell him the truth and not to trap him in a marriage with a baby that wasn't his when that was an option and her alternatives weren't great (the book says she went to stay with an aunt in Kansas or something- whether you believe thats actually where she ended up or not is up to you, personally I think it's likely she ended up in a religious led birthing house where she gave birth and the baby was taken away from her and adopted out, or alternatively kept her baby and lived as a social pariah while her child was looked down on for being a bastard) . I think too that it's important to keep in mind that Ponyboy's narration- PARTICULARLY about his views and portrayal of Soda- is biased. Ponyboy is fourteen. He and Soda are close, and he knew Soda loved Sandy but he clearly didn't have a good understanding of their relationship (for all we know, Soda and Sandy could have been going through a rough patch) and Soda may have loved her but might not have been a great boyfriend (we know Ponyboy puts him on a pedestal). Again, I'm not trying to excuse cheating, but Sandy is a character who was in a really tough situation and did the best she could considering, and I think people like to hate on her because they like to pretend that teen pregnancy isn't a real and prevalent issue in underprivelidged communities (and because Hinton's writing shows a lot of internalized misogyny but that's a rant for a different post) because it takes some of the 'fun' out of the greaser world- but Sandy is an important character because she forces readers to acknowledge that hard truth, and sit with it, and be uncomfortable, even if they hate her. It's interesting too, because Steve says that Sandy either had to go to kansas and dissapear or get married and her parents wouldn't let her marry a seventeen year old kid. But Sandy herself was a seventeen year old kid. Yes, it's good Soda didn't end up marrying her, but it's bleak that that was even considered as an option for her. Marriage at seventeen- even if she (and her parents) did accept Soda is a huge commitment, and likely would have ended with them resnting each other and living life barely making ends meet. To me, it's likely had Soda and Sandy ended up together, that they would have turned into Two-bit's parents (one ran off, one working to death) or Steve's (cyclically resentful, violent, and remorseful by turns). To me, the whole Sandy situation was a shallow echo of showing cycles of poverty and abuse in a novel that is so preoccupied with conflicts taking place in the moment. So yeah, I don't particularly like Sandy, but I think she is an incredibly important character in the novel, and I wish we'd got at least one scene with her actually present- then again, hearing about the whole issue through Ponyboy who hears it secondhand is an important framing device for how we see and interpret her character, and an interesting narrative choice. (Rant over lol)
In my fun little universe that I wish was canon, Stevepop is a thing, but Soda only realizes his feelings for Steve once his relationship with Sandy ends. In this universe, things go down the same way, but Sandy was never as interested in Soda as she feels she SHOULD have been, so she tried to force herself to like him and it just didn't work, and she ended up cheating as a way to ensure things would end and she'd have a good excuse, because Soda was always willing to talk through fights and if she broke up with him without a reason people would think she was crazy. At the time, Steve and Evie were an item, butweren't actually into each other (I will push my Steve and Evie as each others beards agenda until the day I die, because Steve is gay and Evie is aroace even though she didn't have terminology for that in the 60s, and they cared about each other.) ANYWAY in my canon, Sandy goes to Kansas and Steve and Soda figure their shit out, and Evie is so happy for Steve and offers to keep fake dating him so he and Soda can avoid suspicion, but Steve says no thanks so they stage a super elaborate breakup mid class one day because neither of them studied for the history test and this was as good a strategy as any to get out of it. Once Evie storms out of the class in fake tears, she calls Sandy (because that girl is still her friend and Evie doesn't turn her back on friends) and find out Sandy had a miscarriage, but she's found a job as a hairdresser in Kansas and she doesn't want to return to Tulsa and the rumours she know will follow her around, but she's as happy as she can be given the circumstances. Evie gives her updates on the town gossip, and promises to visit if she gets a chance. Sandy doesn't ask about Soda and Evie doesn't bring him up, and there's a silent consensus that they never will. Meanwhile, Soda hardly thinks about her at all anymore except with an occasional bittersweet smile that Steve knwos from a mile away and also knows how to distract Soda so that he isn't think of hher anymore. In the end, Sandy is just someone Soda used to know, and Soda is a stranger Sandy met once. The end.

Open season huskerdust fic concepts cause I'll certainly never write them (use as you like but lmk if you write I'll gobble that shit up!)
A Peggy Sue (character goes back in time with knowledge of future events) Husker fic. Key points include things like
Husk building an Overlord Au empire. His vice is gambling and he's pretty lazy, so the original version who sold himself to Alastor simply amassed personal power and riches he could gamble and coasted on fame but didnt build infrastructure. He does so the second time to give himself a power base he *can* safely gamble with and a potential safe space for Angel. In other words, canon overlord Husk was a singular gambler, au Husk builds an empire out of spite.
Husk and Val drop into hell at about the same time. If Husk goes after Angel right away then this is still early stage Val who's charismatic and sweet and gives Angel any drug he pleases. Angel is the old blood here.
Say it with me folks. Husk would let Angel do sex work! Angel likes it and Husk isnt the jelous type!
Husk genuinely contemplates just sitting back and letting Angel be until he regrets Val's deal because like he's hasn't hits that self reflection and isnt the same Angel yet and Husk can't force him and not be an asshole and OG Angel wouldnt apreciate being babied like this but on the other hand he could save Angel a few lifetimes of suffering. Maybe he'll loose a game and a pretty valuable angelic weapon to Angel to give him a way out when he needs it (that would be such a bittersweet ending!)
Husk still ends up betting his soul to Alastor. Not because of outside tension but becaue of his own vices and moral failings. Husk doesn't sing about his drinking or laziness in looser baby it's his gambling addiction. He knows it's a bad idea. He always swore *if he could only go back*. But *what if he wins?*
2. Soft porno AU. In the wake of Ozzie declaring his love for Fizzie, there's been a small, but noticiable and steadily climbing, trend of demand for softcore schmaltzy porno. Starting with the hellborn, but its infecting the pride ring sinners too. *then it turns out someone witness and recorded looser baby*. Now theres a pretty loud conversation about Angel's apparent secret soft daddy, and demand is going from annoying to picking at sales numbers and it's not going away.
Val *haaaaaaaates* this. Like. From a moral standpoint. He's into corruption and pain and non con and fucking up nice things. He's literally gagging, and maybe even seething inside because he might not want it with Angel but not being able to have it irks him
Angel and Husk are in fact not sleeping together (but want to)
Husk suddenly gets horny fans. He's not a fox hes a cat damn it. What the fuck is a grungy daddy. ANGEL STOP LAUGHING
Angel starts getting soft flirting as pick up lines and it's legit uncomfy as fuck for him
Val tries to make soft boy porn to various degrees with various people and not only does it suck he's actually throwing up in his mouth
Val: look, just fuck my bitch (who I know you are already fucking you cunt) in front of a camera while looking in his eyes and I will give you so much money. Husk: my contract literally forwards all my worldly possessions to Al that means nothing to me Val: *chews his own arm off*
Val: hey can I use your soul for a movie I'll give you money and women. Alastor: *pissing himself with uncomfortable laughter* Val: men?....
Husker: how about we play a little game. Every time you win I'll make a little film with Angel. But if I win you gimmie something I want
(Bonus if he loses some to escalete stakes up to souls. Double bonus to finding a work around to Al owning Angel. My top picks are Charlie being so aggressively thankful to Al helping to free Angel that he's peer pressured into releasing the contract, or Angel being so aggressively suggestive on what his contract is for that Al would rather break his chains than deal with that)
Alternate of above. Husk and Angel make unintentionally silly and loving amateur porn that just reeks of akward sentimentality. There's giggling and tickling and bad jokes and like *kissing* and bad angles and it's kinda terrible and wonderful and takes the internet by storm. It's on Angel's personal harddrive but that all technically belongs to Val per contract. In same spirit as above.
(Bonus round. If you dont understand poker, don't use is as a two person game. It's possible, but two person poker is a very unique beast. Poker is about the read. Early hands are used to get beads on people and judge attitudes and trends. Between two people, you end up folding +90% of hands until you have something. If you bet, the other person is judging you bluff, and they most the time fold. It's boring as fuck.
Husk's Overlord flashback sugests he and Alastor were playing Old Maid, a game still better with more people, but perfectly possible with two. Honestly one much easier to learn, easier to build tension with, and much better thematically for these kinds of stories. STOP USING POKER FOR INTENSE MOMENTS IF YOU DONT PLAY
Honestly two person poker would be a better game for Husk and Angel, as it gives space to bullshit between a dozen shit hands and folded bluffs as pots swing back and forth. Willingly building a pot and tricking someone into taking it is a pretty hard gamble to take ya know?)

(Noodling around with different 'verses, since that seems to be a Thing happening more often lately)
Main TFP universe, aka Cliff Lives
My first and foremost setting for Cliffjumper and Sierra, based on some fan fiction I wrote several years ago. Unless otherwise specified, this is where I'm working from concerning interactions, whether that means a thread is taking place in my AU, or Cliff and Sierra have un/intentionally gone universe hopping. Their groundbridge acts screwy plenty often, no need to elaborate beyond that.
Fae!verse
This one comes from @sparkmender, who's shared a frankly fascinating giant-magic-insect AU that I'm dipping my toes into, with red lily beetle Cliffjumper pretending he isn't breaking any rules by smuggling a teenage human into Iacon Hive, and said human changeling Sierra figuring out how to poke her magic into revealing itself. And also how to avoid being eaten.
Sarant!verse
Look. I'm a self-published author with one (1) novel to my name so far. Sarant is a big massive complex world I've been building over the past fourteen years, there's a tabletop roleplaying game I started crafting alongside the various book plots, and I will absolutely take any excuse to put some free publicity out there while also having fun amusing myself and friends. Hence Minotaur!Cliff and Quirren!Sierra and a few others I've been putting together.
Jedi!verse
Aaand this one I blame @ghostlyvisage for; mentioning a Mandalorian bounty version of Ghostspire instantly catapulted my brain towards all the space-magic shenanigans Cliff and Sierra could get into with the Force. So, introducing Devaronian Jedi Master Cliff Jammp'r and his human padawan Sierra Redsand, blue and green lightsabers respectively.
Cyberkid!verse
SO THIS ONE HAS A FEW DIFFERENT ITERATIONS, depending on which way the cards fell in Sierra being cyberformed via Omega Lock, yes there will eventually be fics for each. The main line is her alone going into the goop and coming out a brand new Cybertronian, except in an initially inert form that means Cliff and the others leave her for dead. Once the kid wakes up, however, the Decepticons quickly scoop her up as a 'recruit' (aka ace in the hole for taunting the bots), and it isn't until her path crosses with Cliffjumper again that Sierra remembers herself, remembers being human, remembers him. They escape, and the 'verse goes from there. Alternate Option! My girl isn't the only one cyberformed, because @convenientkeystorage and I are suckers for letting Sierra and Jack act like bonded cats even when they've become amnesiac alien robots. These posts are additionally labeled Sunset AU
Adventure!verse
Vaguely D&D, mainly just high fantasy shenanigans, with dragon!Cliff toting around young elf wizardling Sierra. So far this one's mostly art, we'll see if I ever get around to writing for it
Squire!verse
Less sorcery and more swords, featuring Sir Cliff the Jumper, Knight of the Autobot Order, and his young squire Sierra of Jasper. Also mainly art for the moment
Supers!verse
I'm not calling this one an X-Men AU, but. That's essentially what it's based off of. Established superhero and mutant boarding school gym teacher Cliffjumper generally likes all his students, but there's this one little spitfire with energy powers that he takes a bigger shine towards and invites to be his part-time sidekick
Future!verse
There are really only two ships I'll ever write on this blog, and that's Sierra/Jack and Cliff/Arcee, with a longterm endgoal of next gen fluff. I've got the name 'Gatecrasher' picked out for a dark magenta colored mechling, and 'April' for a human great-granddaughter, and at some point there might be some time travel shenanigans purely so I can give them a bit of the spotlight

Even ignoring that, Oshima doesn't write the games, nor has been in the franchise for decades. His opinions have also definitely changed as well (from being annoyed by the Harmony Calendar art by other artists overly mascotting/cutifying Sonic, to blanket "they good" now cuz fondness of all 90s)
He's a good resource for dev of stuff in the initial games and inspiration for char designs, but is generally unaware of char writing besides basic traits
Though his view on Eggman being not evil evil might be cuz Sonic 1 dev Eggman being the main villain was an afterthought. And people pressure him to prioritize remembering Sonic 1/CD dev over others
But hey, took him 30 years to forget things. I can't say the same for certain writers...
And people pressure him to prioritize remembering Sonic 1/CD dev over others
Bruh I can barely remember my mindset when making OaS and it got published only a year ago. Demanding a dev recall their initial impressions of a character they helped create 30 years ago is insane.
...Anyway, I had to go find the original quote because unfortunately, people tend to misrepresent Ohshima's statements. Can't really take anyone else's word for it.
And, uh, yeah. Like the SonAmy tweet, there's quite a bit here that I have to disagree with.
First, we have the problem of thinking that villains who aim to destroy the world are automatically worse than Eggman, who "only" wants to conquer it.
Conquest under Eggman's rule would be absolutely horrible. In some instances, I wouldn't be sure if total annihilation wouldn't be a more preferable fate.
You could argue that Eggman conquering the world would end up destroying it anyway, thus rendering the comparison moot. But since that gives ground to the idea that instant destruction is worse than subjugation which results in destruction over time, I'm not going to lean too hard into it. Destruction is destruction.
The underlying assumption weakens even more when you consider the fact that not every non-Eggman villain wants to destroy the world in the first place.
Fueled by pain and rage, Chaos massacred the Knuckles clan. Regardless, it didn't destroy the entire clan, never mind the world.
Neo Metal wanted to build a robot kingdom. Not a far cry from his creator's aims.
Black Doom wanted to turn humanity into fuel and a food source. To which I must say, how is that qualitatively any different than Eggman turning animals into robot batteries?
---
Second, "Eggman protects the world" as part of his own self-interests when necessity demands. Yeah, obviously there's going to be nothing to rule if he allows the world to be destroyed and he doesn't want that. But he's not going out of his way to "protect" the world unless he has a personal stake in it and there's no other alternative. At which point, he can only be said to be pragmatic at best.
He's not doing it because he thinks he can outperform Mother Nature. I feel like Ohshima is taking Eggman's god complex too literally and thinking Eggman feels he can replace nature. Science is the means, not the objective:
He doesn't really want to replace anything; he wants to conquer and have all bend to his will, and he doesn't care if things fall into disrepair.
If he was interested in supplanting nature with his own version, why is everything falling apart in CD's Bad Futures? Where are the forests full of mechanized trees? Why are the waters polluted and not replaced with Mega Mack? This argument would imply that Eggman is also responsible for the beneficial technology seen in CD's Good Futures, and that's just backwards.
Just because he wants to slap his face on every available surface doesn't mean he has some pseudo-philosophical reason for doing so.
---
"Humans are enemies for animals."
Mr. Ohshima, I respect you, but no. Not every culture believes this. Mine doesn't. Humans have the potential to be harmful or helpful, but we are not inherently one or the other.
I think maybe what he meant to say here is that humanity's greed is the driving force behind environmental destruction, which would be a valid take in keeping with the series' overall message. Eggman does represent industry, humanity's potential for great scientific achievement and for great harm.
"Eggman wants to make the world beautiful with science and technology."
Source? No seriously, source?
This might be hair-splitting to the Nth degree, but the sense I get from this particular bit is that Eggman finds science inherently beautiful and seeks to enhance the world with it, rather than finding his own creations beautiful out of a sense of ego.
---
"He is not evil in Sonic Adventure" does not mean Ohshima is necessarily saying Eggman isn't evil in other games. And even then, it's a bit of a stretch to say he isn't evil in Adventure.
Not sure why Ohshima is bringing up SA1 as if it's particularly relevant... Although I'm vaguely reminded of a manual entry that describes Eggman as possessing no real sense of right or wrong, so he may be remembering that.
The problem with Mr. Ohshima's statements is that they are not corroborated by what the games show us. Every time Eggman has displayed remorse, it was part of a ruse - which would imply that he needs to know what contrition looks like in order to imitate it. He wouldn't brutally mock Emerl's mercy as a sign of weakness if he didn't understand it. He's not lacking in comprehension; he's actively rejecting the concept. There's a difference.
Also, this interpretation inadvertently paints Sonic in a darker light than intended given his callous disregard of Eggman, and I don't think Ohshima realizes it.
It's significant that Sonic has never looked at the camera and lamented: "Alas, poor Eggman, he knows not the error of his ways." In fact, it'd be pretty fucked-up if he thought Eggman was simply walking down a bad path, and still chose to leave him behind in explosions and ignored the guy's pleas for rescue/mercy.
The games make it clear that Eggman knows what he's doing and he just doesn't care. He calls himself "evil" in Sonic Battle. He absolutely is capable of distinguishing right from wrong, and it borders on discrediting his intelligence to imply otherwise.
Eggman has a 300 IQ and is capable of self-reflection, if we're buying the whole "muh humanizing moments" bullshit SA2 and Frontiers are selling us. It therefore strips him of his agency and infantilizes him to insist that he knows no better, even in this roundabout "oh, he's only misguided" kind of way.
Shadow was misguided in SA2. We can argue about whether he heel-face turned too quickly, but the point remains that he eventually came around.
Eggman's actions, on the other hand, have proven that even if he is misguided, he's too entrenched in his goals to consider turning the car around. So there's no real point in emphasizing the "misguided" part.
You can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't say "Eggman's finally becoming A Real Human Being(tm) through self-reflection" in one breath and "he just doesn't know right from wrong" in the next. Those two ideas are incompatible. Either Eggman knows that what he does is wrong or he doesn't. And considering how he was able to recognize his grandfather's greatness as a child, my bets are on the former.

If Hannigram do end up having sex in s4 or s5, do you think Will is going to dom Hannibal?
On the one hand: I don’t think there’s going to be a s4/s5 at this point and I’m fine with that. I don’t enjoy a lot of what’s been floated as planned for future seasons and I’m skeptical of how much of that was ever really going to be on the table just because of how making a TV show works. Idk what we’ll see or not see there. On the other hand: that means I and every other writer/artist/fan has a blank check for what they would want to see in that time frame. I can’t say what I think we would see but I can definitely hold forth at length about what I would write if I were somehow in charge of the Official Hannigram Paddling Sequence.
The thing that makes any kind of dominance/submission dynamic between them so fraught is of course all the very unsimulated betrayal and violence, but a lot of things could conceivably happen after that game changer s3 finale. So taking it for granted that they finally recognize that they do in fact want to fuck each other, and in the alternate universe where they’re permitted to fuck nasty, I do think Will could and would dom Hannibal — but it would be with their customary level of 4D-chess mind games in play. Hannibal submitting to anybody (and I do think he has wonderful subby moments, especially with Bedelia) is always like one of those optical illusions where the silhouette of a vase is produced by the negative space between two faces. They both know what he’s capable of and what he’s done in the past, so what he’s not doing is as important to the scene as what he *is* doing.
So without further ado, because I did 100% ask for weird Hannigram sex asks, here are some thoughts on yaoi weird Hannigram sex. (Content note: discussion of risk-aware consensual but undernegotiated kink, sex, elements of consensual non-consent, hypothetical consent issues/canon-typical mental cruelty.)
I do think Will would have a lot of complex emotions and desires to unpack in a sexual encounter where a consensual(ish) exploration of fantasy is the whole point, and that Hannibal would be receptive to that — one of my favorite flavors of dom! Will is with Hannibal really gratified by and getting off on the darker emotions Will would be more hesitant to explore during a sex/kink scenario with someone who, bluntly, he didn’t feel on some level deserved it. (Or as Hannibal might prefer to frame that, was worthy of those emotions.) He has a lot of real anger to tap into and I think the exploratory and experimental space of kink would allow him to express and come to terms with some of his more contradictory impulses where Hannibal’s concerned. That kind of kinky theatrical engagement lends itself to dialogue and exploration, kind of a horny improv comedy situation where two people conspire together to bring each other pleasure and catharsis, which I think Will might, if he could get past all his turbo guilt, enjoy. The fact that Hannibal enjoys the *thought* of Will hurting him physically (up to the point of… yk, murder) precludes that being really satisfying as pure revenge, but it also gives Will a kind of permission to get pretty wild with it while still feeling love and tenderness for this guy. I also think Will’s weird reciprocal powers of imagination and empathy would make a funky feedback loop between him and a partner with appropriately complicated kinks — identifying what gets somebody off and why, then getting off on getting them off on a deep and intimate level. It’s the more benign version maybe of getting satisfaction out of perceiving what will hurt Hannibal most (in the unsexy, unwanted, non-negotiated sense) and then doing exactly that. Sapiosexuality but for only being able to get off on probing the inner workings of very conceptually complicated fetishes.
The real impediment besides Will’s own guilt (and any painful emotions he might have surviving that s3 finale) would be Hannibal’s irresistible need to poke and prod at other people’s brains. I don’t love the way people use the pejorative sense of “topping from the bottom” — too often it’s so ill defined that it gets into ugly essentialist territory and I think overstepping the bounds in a kink scene can go in any direction, it’s not fine when a dom oversteps either — but Hannibal is not really great at respecting limits and he’s fully capable of going too far and inflicting unwanted mental cruelty even if he’s totally physically immobilized. (In fact, it’s kind of the character’s thing, arguably.) So getting Hannibal to play nice long enough for Will to play with him at all would be tough, but not impossible with the right incentives.
If they can engage in that dynamic as sort of co-conspirators and collaborators instead of being genuinely adversarial I think they could both get a lot out of being on either side of the equation. (This goes for sex in general, I think, I don’t see either of them as a die-hard exclusive top or bottom. Hannibal would have pretentious thoughts about this and about the complexities of power and pleasure while I think Will, under ideal conditions, would enjoy the flexibility of switching roles and exploring different sides of himself.) Hannibal has a whole worthy-opponent thing which is very wonderfully horny so I think he’d get off a lot on being forced/yk, “””forced””” to submit if that meant similarly forcing/“forcing” Will into being brutal with him (with whatever level of real vs. play-acted resistance) and Will would get off on having a designated space (if never exactly a safe space given Hannibal’s a dangerous guy) to explore his capacity for violence without the fear of losing control of himself or of hurting somebody who’s not fine with being hurt under those conditions. I uhhhhh have a fic where post-s3 Will consensually hunts down Hannibal for sport and fucks him when he catches him so I have lots of thoughts about how they could conceivably bone. Either of them can perform their dominance of the other purely verbally but I feel like this pairing/dynamic combo pairs well with rough body play/impact play, verbal humiliation of a horny variety, ruined orgasms, orgasm denial, rope bondage, and de facto honor bondage/compelling him to endure uneasy positions of anticipation and expectation. (“Hold perfectly still while I shave you even though you know I could fully cut your throat with your own stupid expensive straight razor” 👌👌👌👌) Lots of emotions and skirting different types of edgeplay. Invoking the real nuclear option(s) in terms of their respective relationship insecurities/traumas would escalate things in an unsexy way neither of them would enjoy, but Hannibal enjoys being seen by Will and Will could get a strong reaction out of him without even laying a hand on him. Or while laying hands on him very sparingly. Special Investigator Graham, you must simply edge 👏 that 👏 man. 👏
It’s always a touchy situation between them and I don’t think it would get any less touchy with them on the run together, but I can imagine lots of possibilities for the two of them to explore their complicated feelings for each other through the time honored medium of bossing a hot older man around sexually.

"mito’s gender is supposed to be this big plot point but she has no thoughts about it ever. ren turns her into a boy and rewrites her memories so presumably she thought during that period that she had always been a boy and only remembered otherwise when ruka broke the spell. she has nothing to say about it. actually she doesn’t have much to say about how fucked up it was for him to do all that
do you think the manga shows more of her internal monologue and thoughts or is it just not important[?]"
I haven't read the manga & I'm certain that it wasn't author's intention, but that description makes it sound like Mito might be Agender, or maybe Gender Casual.
Because that whole part of not really having thought on being turned into a boy makes me think of an inverted version of Elliot & Ellen Dunkel from El Goonish Shive.
Fairly early on in the comic's story, Elliot was hit with an alien magi-tech "beam of turn you into a hot girl (and also increase any existing attraction you have to guys)" and (due incredibly complicated reasons that wouldn't be fully revealed until much later) thought he would be stuck like that for the foreseeable future. So he attempted to use an ancient artifact intended to remove curses called "The Dewitchery Diamond" to undo it. Except, the diamond was improperly made by its novice creator & "removes curses" by extracting any enchantments affecting someone and turning them into a separate beings that are capable of spreading their "curse", and leaving the original target the ability to change into their transformed state at-will (in-universe the Diamond was responsible for the creation of werewolves).
So anyways, not only did Elliot using the diamond create Ellen, his sister who has all his memories up until the point of contact with the diamond (but notably the Diamond canonically gives it's creations entirely new souls, and Ellen was also later given a second set of childhood memories of being raised as girl from a dream alternate reality that never existed to help "age-up her soul"), it also served as a "improper trigger" for his magical awakening.
This improper awakening made it so that:
A) all spells he develops have to do with turning into a girl in some way, meaning the "turn into a superhero" spell he gets is specifically a "turn into a superheroine" spell,
B) he has a build-up of magical energy that requires him to use the "turn into a girl" spell at regular intervals to prevent it from going off uncontrollably at random.
My point being that because all of this, he later figure's out that he's "Gender Casual" (a term coined in-universe by him/IRL by the author as a self-descriptor) and likes having access to the ability to transform even though he's fine either way (and so continues to do so even after he stops having the magical build-up).
(Side note: I'm using He/Him for Elliot because that was most recent preference stated in the comic, via one of the Q and A chapters)
this conversation between ellen and elliot is so cute. I'm charmed by it even though I don't know the characters. I don't think ms toyama ema has put even a tenth of the thought that went into these pages into the gender identities of the characters in vampire dormitory
am I right that the author of el goonish shive is someone who started out like "it would be crazy if there was a beam that turned you into a girl, and kind of cool also. I'm not going to unpack this" but over the course of writing a webcomic about it began to unpack it and went on a bit of a gender journey along with their characters? if so then you can't help but put a lot of thought into the gender of your characters. if ms toyama is a cis woman she may never have thought about gender and ended up with a gender casual character from a position of thoughtlessness rather than deep thought...

Haya the Hedgehog
back in August 2022, i made some dinky designs; Sonic Badniks in the style of Mario enemies. after a while in September, i then got to drawing Sonic, and then the rest occurred.
because further posts will show these designs, i'm somewhat forced to introduce it as a separate post for easier linking for context.
before that, however, i was doodling this Mario-centric Mario/Sonic crossover idea that would act as this introduction to Sonic’s world and his characters to Mario players. basically, some alternate Sonic Forces where Eggman not only captured Sonic, but his friends too, leaving nobody else to come save the world.
so Mario would arrive in this rainbow ring and explore the world to save everyone. big hogablah
because of that, i was thinking how Mario would arrive there, if this version of Sonic's world is part of Mario's universe, if it follows the same lore rules... same... design rules... and that's how i got this child to take care of.
so now we have the Haya Dimension; a dimension in Mario’s universe (think like how Super Paper Mario handled it) where it also has to play along with the rules of Mario. therefore, i put myself within these four rules:
Follow the basic plot beats, not the nitty gritty. The corporate suits above only care about the former, after all.
Change whatever worldbuilding to fit in-line with Mario’s.
Sonic’s name is Haya.
Lower some stakes so as not to cause Mario to travel there and get involved. (Sonic 06 was on my mind when i wrote this)
the Haya Dimension has to be completely outside of Mario’s point of view. nobody there must know the mystery about this dimension. nobody!! not even… Birdo
Differences
yea of course this has to happen. okay uhh i’ll be aping off of my DeviantArt post noting down some differences. note that some of these aren't entirely Mario-related lol
During the Classic Era, Eggman hired a bunch of organic creatures; the badniks are living creatures. Higher-ranking in the Eggman Empire being robots.
Starting in Dreamcast Era, all of Eggman's troops were replaced by robots. This explains E-123 Omega remaining a robot; a modified Topman Tribe husk
Ending in Meta Era (Colors onward), Eggman's troops are both a mix between organic and robotic troops. High-ranking remain robots.
There's no Classic/Modern distinction. Haya Generations looks really different.
There's no physical "future period" in Mario, so Silver is left as a present-day future teller, always relying on the Stars telling him the future.
That there's no "future period" to travel to requires Haya 06 to be rewritten entirely.
The Sol Dimension is a Special World equivalent of Haya's Dimension. Onyx Island comes from the Sol Dimension. Eggman Nega is our Bowser (blue) equivalent.
Cream and Vanilla likely lived on the Moon before becoming homeless after the events of Adventure 2. After that, they moved to Earth.
Sage is designed as a fairy
Honey is a Drag Queen.
Kitsunami's water pack is designed after inter-dimensionally observing E. Gadd's F.L.U.D.D. tech.
Eggman's Goal Plate is a Flag Plate. Spin it all the way down as fast as you can for bonus points.
The magical gems have eyes and special hairstyles. I'm waiting till Sonic Superstars showcases each Emerald's special power before assigning a symbolic hairstyle to them.
it's basically become my personal playground to test my might, my designs, and my writing.
i understand i've yet to fully understand these characters, but i've also done my best to try and write bios for the characters present.
Haya was originally designed as if he were a Mario enemy. he serves as the groundwork design for everyone else. as a Mario enemy, i specifically brought attention to his shoes being a colorful red-yellow.
Eggman went through a ton of designs. they all failed. there's no way to change him. he's already great. his only difference has him with a round nose instead of a triangular one.
his tails were designed after propellers, yet still mutated to still make his bully backstory make sense. the stripes on his tails are designed after propeller wings.
and that's all i wanna share right now. as Reupload Gonanza continues, more and more of these designs will start appearing, each with a slight justification from me behind each designs. be sure to check out the "#Haya Dimension" tag under the post.

Do I STILL really believe Nalu won’t happen?
Short answer: No.
But you know that's not how we do things here.
It feels so good to be back! (sort of, at least) I know I've been away for some time. Part of it is being busy with things in real life. Part of it is mental health not doing too well. Some of my plans for things have shifted quite a bit, as you might be able to tell.
All that said, this hasn't changed.
I haven't talked about this in the proper context of the sequels. I've taken shots at the ship. But have I given this ship the treatment I'd probably be expected to?
Or, at least, have I explained my reasons for still doubting the ship will happen? Because I don't have to like that a ship is happening to believe it will happen.
Speaking of which, what better place to start with than talking about that other ship I rag on a lot: Gruvia. I've said this a few times, but I don't like Mashima's writing of Gruvia in the sequel. To be brief, the ship's focus is different from what I believe it should be. And having Juvia as an active series member has long since passed the point of straining reality.
At the same time, no one denies that Gray has decided to accept Juvia's feelings. He's come to terms with himself in this regard and will accept Juvia as a lover once the mission ends. (How are we still on the fourth dragon?) It's hard to see something like Gray wishing for an alternate universe where he's married with a kid and ask myself, "How serious is Mashima about this ship happening?" You know, as if it isn't only a matter of time.
The issue is that Nalu isn't on that level. That sounds like me being biased and denying the reality right, especially if I listen to certain people.
But let's compare these two ships and what's happened to them in the sequel.
When the gang visited Fairy Nali, their version of Juvia was the catalyst for Gray being as open with Juvia as he's poised to be. Fairy Nali has its own Nalu, but nothing meaningful came from it. Natsu got jealous because of Lucy, but that's not brought up again and doesn't affect anything.
They go to Edolas and see their alternate-world kids. I'll grant you that Natsu and Gray want to bring their "kids" to the Earthland. But what else happens? I mentioned what goes on with Greige already. Ashley talks with Lucy about the possibility of a future romance with Natsu, but she's not meaningfully moved by it.
Come to think of it, there was a similar conversation to that when they were on the Earth God Dragon. Lucy heard Touka had a romantic interest in Natsu. Her response wasn't one of jealousy. She figured it wouldn't go well once she heard about it. (It's almost as if she knows that Natsu isn't currently interested in a romantic relationship if he ever will be.)
Nothing showed that more than the one moment I've talked about the most from the sequel: Natsu and the women in his heart. The fact that Natsu's bunch of women is canonically juxtaposed with Gray's feelings for Juvia shows that Mashima's taking this ship as a joke.
To be a Nalu shipper, I must believe one of a few realities. It's possible that Natsu does have romantic feelings for all these women and can't decide between them. You know, despite Wendy being in that bunch. It's also possible Mashima, being in tune with fandom, is trying to appease fans of Natsu's most-popular ships, even outside of Nalu. It wasn't as if I expected anything involving Nali in the sequel. My theory, which I alluded to when it happened, is Mashima making a callback to a sketch he made a while back. That would explain why Mira and Cana were there but don't talk. They weren't in that old sketch.
I can't say for sure what this moment is supposed to mean. But I know that this isn't helping Nalu's case as a romantic ship. Not just because it's multiple women. Not just because Gray's only interested in Juvia. Natsu's focus in the matter is that Yakune put his friends against him. Not women he's interested in romantically used to distract him.
By the way, I'm sick of having to say this after eight years of having this blog. But I guess some things never change. Characters being put in awkward potentially sexual positions isn't proof your ship will happen. At best, it's a cheap gag that could reveal characters' feelings through their reactions. At worst, it's one of the most annoying tropes of the medium we love and want to take more seriously. Lucy wanting Natsu to touch her anywhere doesn't hold the kind of weight I'm annoyed to know so many fans want it to have. That doesn't matter how real or fake Lucy or whoever else is.
But what tells me Nalu isn't likely isn't any of that. It's not anything involving Gruvia or chapter 71 of the sequel. I don't think I'd say this a few years ago. But the thing that sells me against Nalu is Jerza. Of course, this isn't to say Jerza happening would jeopardize Nalu. But Jerza has been making strides toward becoming canon.
A few years ago, I concluded that Erza would never willingly leave Fairy Tail, even to be with Jellal. That means the only way Jerza could happen would be if Jellal accepted his actions as being forgiven and was willing to join Erza to some degree. This could be joining Fairy Tail or some sort of mutual partnership outside of it. Mind you, this was for how I was thinking of how to pair them in rewriting the series. (Also, thank "Kidnapping Erza".)
Now, what's happened in the sequel?
Awkward and annoying as it is, Jellal put his past behind him. At this point, it's more a matter of conviction, similar to Gray not using Iced Shell. Erza invited Jellal to join Fairy Tail. He's currently considering the offer and isn't too enthusiastic about it. But if the guild was willing to accept Gajeel destroying the guild and stapling Shadow Gear to a tree, Jellal's not too far from being accepted by the guild. Not because Tower of Heaven isn't objectively worse. Because if the one person in the guild hurt by his actions is willing to accept him, no one else has any reason to reject him. Especially considering she might become the next guild leader if Makarov dies (again).
And all the while, they genuinely get flustered at the idea of being in a relationship with each other. The notion of a Jerza romance is treated as all but a certainty by characters familiar with them multiple times in canon, including the the past few chapters we’ve got from the sequel. As far as I can tell, no one operates under the assumption this ship isn't happening. Nothing has convinced me this shouldn't be the case.
What can I say of Nalu in this regard?
It's one thing if I question whether or not Nalu will happen. I've never seriously liked it and have outright said it won't and shouldn't happen multiple times for multiple reasons. In years past, I probably would point to that and call it a day. But, if there’s any benefit to being away for the past few months, I’ve had time to justify something crazy.
For the past few years, Nalu fans have questioned if the ship will happen. People who like the ship genuinely wonder if Mashima will make the ship happen or if they're right to doubt its prospects. I've seen this all over the internet, not just here on Tumblr. It’s a question people bring up on Reddit. It’s mentioned in places like Youtube and Twitter.
And as much as people will reassure them that it's going to happen, this isn't true of the other ships in the Big 4. As a fandom, we're convinced Jerza will happen. We're convinced Gruvia will happen. No matter how people feel about them, I don't see anywhere near as many people questioning these ships happening as Nalu. Gajevy's already happened, and we know how that's supposed to go.
And, to be honest, this has been amazing to notice. Going from everyone taking Nalu for granted to seeing the whispers of Nalu not being as possible genuinely makes me feel so vindicated. When I made my big post about Nalu years back, I was terrified someone would tell me I was wrong and tear down my post as idiotic. If I were to remake that post now, I'd have so much fewer worries making the post. Even making the sequel to that post after Mashima’s supposed positive comments about Nalu at NYCC was so much easier knowing they weren’t meant to be.
It's almost a shame that I've all but run out of things to say about the ship. At this point, there's not a whole lot else for me to say but "I told you so, idiots" to the people who doubted me and those who agreed with me. It's not unlikely that something new will happen that requires me to talk about Nalu between now and Mashima's final decision on the ship. Something always comes up, be it a moment or something in fandom. Some Nalu fans may reply to my posts, and I'll answer them. But nothing to change how we all view Nalu will likely happen for some time.
Is Nalu possible? Yes, Nalu can still happen as long as Mashima's still writing the series. I don't think that a canonized Nalu will look anywhere near as interesting as the fandom wants to believe it would be. However, it's not as if Nalu is entirely impossible. I said that when I made my first long post about Nalu. (I didn't in the sequel because I figured the series was over.) I said that when we learned Mashima didn't plan the ship originally. I still believe that now, despite everything that I've said.
While nothing is set in stone, I'll enjoy all the salt from the Nalu fandom.

Do you think tlnd is truly over?
I love the story (obviously) but I don’t mean to be insinuating or implying that there should be a part two.
It’s been over a year and there are so many more hcs and snippets about the future in tlnd. It’s like we all know the future cause we’ve talked about it so much and every now and then it’s all over your blog. So do you think maybe there’ll be a continuation at some point?
*removed my glasses and bites the tip pensively*
When is a story really over?
Is it when the author stops writing it? Is it when people stop reading it? Is it when the characters disappear from our hearts and their stories vanish from our minds?
To me, the end of anything, is when people stop caring.
And the beautiful thing about any story is that there will always be new readers who discover it for the first time - just as there will always be old readers who come back to it.
I gave birth to TLND. You guys keep it alive.
*puts my glasses back on and clears my throat*
I don't anticipate a part 2 or continuation, to be honest. TLND is one of those stories, like IALS, that ended on the right note. The important thing about being a writer is knowing when to stop. And the key to doing that is to listen to your characters. As readers, even as writers, we always want more. But the characters don't.
When you feel that they've reached their 'destination' you need to say 'thank you for letting me create you and now enjoy!' and then say goodbye.
I can imagine how that can be difficult for a reader to do. But as a writer, especially for me, it's the easiest goddamn thing I've done.
There is a chapter in TLND called 'goodbyes are fucking hard' but to me saying goodbye to any story I write is so fucking easy (as you might have seen) because every story excites me for the next one I get to write - to explore and discover and love and torture the new versions of these same characters we've been reading about forever.
Having said all this, I do revisit my fics every now and then. Maybe writing missing scenes and alternative povs and random scenarios from the future. I've been meaning to write a very particular tlnd one shot for a while now. Hopefully, I can find the time and peace to do it.
Love x

Aright, completed the Fell Xenologue, so if you don’t want to be spoiled avoid reading this
SPOILERS AHEAD
Basically the whole Fell Xenologue is to keep in touch with the alternate universe thing we add for the last games : It’s to Engage whats was Future Past to Awakening, Heir of Fates to Fates and Three Hopes to Three Houses. Except it’s more than a simple “what if” scenario.
Future Past was basically a secret bad ending to the canon timeline, a Awakening divergent where everyone dies, a timeline where the Morgans come from.
Heirs of Fates is what takes place in a universe where Anankos won and depends on both Corrin’s choice, F!Kanna’s camp being if Hoshido was choosen, M!Kanna’s camp if Nohr was choosen and Shigure’s camp if Revelations was choosen.
Three Hopes is what happened if Shez survived their encounters with Byleth.
The Fell Xenologue is COMPLETELY different. It’s what happened if Alear is Lumera’s true child ! Yes, in this universe Alear is really a divine dragon and was really Lumera’s kid. They have 0 ties with Sombron, this Sombron is the father of Veyle who is dead at the begining of the story, Nil, Nel and Rafal. In this universe, Alear was even lover with Nel at some point ! Also, you have to understand that in this universe, Alear’s gender is not the same. if you play with M!Alear, then the Alear from FX’s universe will be a woman. If it’s with F!Alear that you play with, then Alternate Alear is male. That was the case for me.
Meanwhile the gameplay is solid and the maps are fun, compared to the others dlc, the plot is reaaaally weak.
If you recall, FP was the embodiment of good play, goood and funny challenging map while the writing was excellent, much better than in the main game in comparison.
Same thing, Heir of Fates was comptent in both map and writing but it’s true that Fates dlc often had better writing than the actual plot, wonder why.
To put simply, FX is the equivalent of Ashen Houses : the map and challenge are good and make it worth to buy the dlc, but the writing of the story is weak.
To put an example, I was kind of disppointed that the alternate version of our units don’t have alternate design to fit the mood. I mean, in a universe where Firene swapped with Brodia and you still have Alfred and Celine with their bright coloured outfit, it just desn’t sit right with me. (this motivated me to try to make alt design for them but God please grant me the time to have this opportunity).
That asides, there is many, way too many “plot twist” that were not : we have the “turns out they were all Corrupted so it’s fine that Nel killed all of them” because we could not have had Nel to be the evil one, was too obvious and they tried to trick us as if we would not be aware that Nil was the traitor, like come on IT was obvious, and it was also obvious that they would have used Nel to disguise it. And yes, obivsouly turns out that Nel knew from the start that Rafal was not Nil yet she “pretented” because you know ? you need to have that “i knew it all along” or things would not be FE signature. And obviously Rafal was kind of possesed by Sombron to explain why he was evul or else it would not be a FE game. I mean, if there is no possesion it’s not fire emblem so we had to have it am i not right ?
To put it short, the story is too predictable to be enjoyable if you want to compare to the previous game’s way of dealing with the plot of their DLC, but the characters are good.
The four Winds really stole the whole DLC spotlight... much like The Four Hounds being stoling the spotlight from the others characters. Franly they are cool, so they might not be the FH, but the FW are cool too. NEat. By the way, if you wonder why Mauvier did not save himself, I think it is obvious. This DLC was mainly here to give us the FH though it did not since they are separete people and entirely different person, but since we already had Mauvier join us in the main game they did not bother change his design, personality, heck not even his devotion to Veyle !! so they just found a way to kill him off since we already had a Mauvier and that FEH is the only game where you can have more than 1 version of the same heroes. Nel is good, like her support with Veyle. and I llike Rafal more than I expected. I love the fact that he is being like “you can’t forgive me this easily JUST because I was possesed!! who does that” or “you want to side with the man who tried to kill you ? who does that ?” * thousands of FE lords sweating nervously*. Good support with Alear too, he is a tsundere.
Also from what I understood : Sombron and alt!Sombron have rather similar personality pretty much like how Alear and Alt!Alear are similar except that our Sombron called his children “defect” whereas Alt!Sombron labelled them as “failure” and that Alt!Sombron had children by pair of twins, which was not the case with our Sombron meaning that in the main story, Nil and Nel probably did not existed and if they did, they would be dead anyway. In FX, Alear and the twins are not related since Alear is the actual child of the divine dragon as stated by the support where the twins were surprised to find out that in this world, it is Alear who is the child of Sombron.
At first, I feared to have again a headache with this whole multiverse thing but THANK GOD, Nel and Rafal are here to clear things up, right ? but the DLC tells us nothing about Emblem 0 but instead put new mysteries like : why wre Nil and Rafal so alike and who was Rafal’s twin ? some have suggested that it was Veyle or that Rafal came from another world too but if he came from our world this would be a problem since in the main story fell fragon are not born by pair of twins, it’s only in the DLC and Veyle would have had more chances of being twin with Alear than anyone else. Plus I doubt that Rafal could come from another world since he is clear crystal about him having had a twin, could not have due to chronology and has no support with Veyle so... yeah. There is also the whole swap thing, when exaclty did it happen ? 1000 ago after the war so it means that in the DLC it has been quite a moment since the swap took place so I doubt that those speculations are right unless further explanation.

1. Tell us about your current project(s) - what's it about, how's progress, what do you love the most about it?
I have more, but 3 that I'm working on more right now.
The first is the 7th chapter of Hope. I'm a little stuck but also really excited about it because this fic is my baby. I have a couple of ocs in here that have become so dear to me, so it is even more special to me. Also, this is the Elle fic I wanted to read about what happened after the fisher king and when she left, and I got to the point where I can write her being soft and happy, so I love getting to write a happy ending for her because she deserves it.
The second one I've been working on a lot recently is an Elle/Emily au where they grew up in the same small town and fell in love when they were teenagers, but then Emily left, and Elle wasn't ready yet. 15 years later, Elle works in the bau, and on a girls' night, Penelope recommends Elle a book she has read, and when Elle sees Emily's name on the cover her heart stops. The book turns out to be about her and her relationship, and Elle doesn't know what she feels when Penelope suggests going to a book signing where she will see Emily again. I love it so much and I'm so nervous about it at the same time. I just have to change a few little details so I'm super excited.
And the third one is sad jemily fic inspired by Is It Over Now by Taylor Swift that has been on my mind since the first time I listened to it. I haven't written this one in the last couple of weeks, but I think about it constantly, and I have so many ideas for it!
18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterizations)) Tell us about them.
YES!!
I have a few of my fics that have a couple of versions in my docs, although they change in just a few things, and they usually end up becoming one if that makes sense.
Also, my Hope fic was supposed to be a one-shot and very different, but I fell in love with the idea of the current version of it. But I might write the other version someday!
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble about (symbolism you've included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
I love exploring Elle’s and Emily’s characters, and I have a few fics that are just about that and exploring different versions and character developments for them.
In most of my fics, there aren’t many references or symbolisms, mostly because I haven’t written many long/multichapter fics. They have little references to songs, some of my other fics/headcanons, but they are minuscule.
The fic where I have let myself write with a lot of hidden references is in Hope. Like that fic is where I give myself free rein to write however I want, so that’s one of the reasons why it is so dear to me. There are clues for future scenes EVERYWHERE. I have a list of scenes I want to write in future chapters and references to past/future scenes that I need to write. I also have a playlist that I take care of so seriously. The songs are in a very specific order of scenes that they remind me of, and I write some of the scenes with those songs in mind, so the playlist is like a part of the fic itself, haha. I also started to explore different ways of writing, including trying to create images with my writing if that makes sense, but that is a work in progress, mostly in the last couple of chapters.
So, yeah, Hope (is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have) is the fic where I let myself explore all of this and try new things in my writing.
I forgot about this and ended up being so long haha :)
Thanks for the ask!! <3

Make Me Write More Results/Sentences
Okay, my poll is over, so it's time to write. As i said in my little update reblog, since I didn't get all too many votes, each fic gets new sentences based on the number of votes it got, in an effort to force me to write more for all of them.
Thanks for playing, everyone (and thank you again to Jilly for the inspiration)! If you had fun, I might do this again on Tuesday for WIP Wednesday. No pressure to vote if you don't want to though. :D
Accountability sentences (and fic premises) under the cut! Please be warned that some of these sentences will probably make no sense out of context, and are also rough first drafts. :P
Letters to Nadia -- From a shared 7KPP 'verse with @teaandinanity's Valya where our characters' kids decided they were in love with each other. (4 sentences but I cheated and added an extra.)
But now, he’s finally, finally, made it back home, back to the safety of the empty study with a decanter of baijiu, free from prying and judging eyes. Free from her eyes. He groans, barely resisting the urge to dash out the door. For one thing, he’s not sure if he’s cogent enough to make it next door, and for another, she’s likely long gone to bed, never mind the fact that there is absolutely no way she’ll even want to see him in the first place. And that is a thought that stings worse than the liquor.
Evenly Matched -- The previously hinted at 7KPP Jaslen/Falon smut that I am PRAYING doesn't start a new ship in me. (3 sentences)
“My dear general,” and there’s the scowl she is familiar with, that seems to make its way across his face with almost military precision, “I have no idea what you could possibly be referring to. Are you quite well?” Her estimation of him is satisfyingly correct.
forever i'm yours, forever i do -- A retelling of Artem's second anniversary card that started as just an attempt to write out the smut and that VERY MUCH grew out of control HELP (3 sentences)
“You’d think you were the one getting married today, not me,” she says, amusement dancing in her eyes as she shoos him away. “Now go and tell my soon-to-be husband that no, he cannot come see me before the wedding; it's bad luck. Nor are you allowed back her to see her either.”
Oh Brother -- Again from the shared 7KPP 'verse mentioned above, Thomas' little sister's version of what happened. It's still in the very early stages so this is more exposition than anything. (3 sentences but adding in a fourth because it was half-finished anyway.)
The eldest daughter of the entire Galeric-Wu clan and the future heiress to the Galerford estate beyond, she could easily have humored and generally ignored a young cousin twelve years her junior and perhaps another girl, another future duchess, would have. But instead, Nadia had chosen to dote upon them all, treating her with the same understanding and love that she gave all of her friends and loved ones. Well, perhaps not all. Because it is an equally well-established fact that, despite all attempts to hide, dismiss, or minimize the fact, Nadia has a favorite cousin.
Spiral Point -- More 7KPP because the brainrot is real, but this time for Camyon's childhood friends AU. Here is their first interaction at the Summit, when neither of them actually recognize the other. :D (3 sentences)
There was no sensible reason why she should have been struck by his appearance, by the way his brow furrowed, first in search and then in recognition, but for one illogical moment, her heart climbed into her throat, only to settle back into her chest with an inexplicable twinge once he spoke. Of course it was about her cousin. He had known Cousin Jiya, a fact that her mother never failed to tease her with, when it came to her own lack of socialization at those academic events hosted by her fellow Jiyelese elite.
Dinghun Zhou -- My attempt at a fairytale AU, it's CinderLia. In an alternate universe in which there is no Summit, but there's still an event to try and find a wife for the perpetually single Duke Lyon. (2 sentences)
She pursed her lips, studying the flimsy pieces of parchment as though they might contain answers, or at least a logical explanation for her misgiving. Unfortunately, and just as expected, none were forthcoming.
Homecoming -- For the CoG story Teahouse for the Gods, because the A'Li romance was right up my alley but we didn't quite get enough of it, in my humble opinion. It's technically two different fics (I should really come up with a proper name for the other one) but I picked the one I had more inspiration for--which you may be unsurprised to learn is probably the angstier of the two. (1 sentence but I cheated again with two.)
It takes a moment for her to clear the memory out of her mind’s eye, to remind herself of the present, and in that time, he’s already stepped into view, though his head is turned, this way and that, as though cataloging every difference in the ensuing decades. Jacqueline darts to her side, half in shock, and she makes a mental note to sit down with the poor thing before his eyes fall on her and the entire mountain seems to hold its breath.
Seasong -- Back to Tears of Themis, a friend did some art for Mermay which inspired an AU in my head that I never got very far in because I am terrible at multichapter things. (4 sentences)
She knew of cages, had seen the ones that sunk, irrevocably, ceaselessly, to the bottom of the sea floor, had heard them whispered of by those unlucky few who had witnessed the capture of one of their own, and the stories of those even unluckier who had somehow managed to escape from such capture. She had heard of the fear, of the isolation, of the greed and malevolence of those humans, who hunted and tormented without need, who captured and traded without compassion. She had heard tales, once meant to frighten her away from the surface, of the many, many who were unable to escape. And now she was trapped in one.
Okay, that's everything, I think. If you read until here, thank you, and maybe see you on Tuesday for another poll? :P
